Back from the beach at the foot of the hillside sits a scattering of cabins - each unique and nestled in the quiet, tropical greenness. Cabins have private baths, double or twin beds and mesh screened porches to discourage insects.

Kayaking guests begin and end their trips in the cabins. While on tour paddlers will tent camp on beaches around the island or on outlying cayes. Gracious islanders provide meals and washrooms.

From each cabin door guests can stroll to the sandy shore to explore, swim or snorkel the uninhabited beaches. Or, they might wander up the hillside trails for an adventurous hike through the valleys of banana and pineapple then up to West Peak hilltop for panoramic views of Guanaja, the reefs, and the southern end of the neighboring island of Roatan..

Keep in mind that Guanaja is a remote and undeveloped isle with only a few small resorts and private homes scattered among the local villages. The island relies on the fishing industry not tourism as its main income. West Peak runs on solar power, and has its own well/water system, and energy conservation is important. Water is heated by the sun so morning showers are cool and afternoon showers are warm.
